MEDIA POLICIES

CREDENTIAL POLICY

Media credentials will be issued to working media only. All credentials are non-transferable, and any unauthorized use will subject the credential bearer to removal from PNC Arena and confiscation of the credential. Credentials allow access to the press box on the fifth floor of PNC Arena, as well as Arena level, which includes our pregame media meal room, media workroom and both locker rooms (for postgame availabilities).

Media credentials are divided into two categories: full-season and single-game. Full-season media passes will be issued to recognized newspapers, magazines, TV and radio stations and established websites by completing the credential application which can be found here. Media credentials may not be used to watch the game from spectator seating areas.

PRACTICES & MORNING SKATES

Prior to most home games, the Hurricanes will hold a morning skate at PNC Arena at 10:30 a.m., typically lasting about 30 minutes. Media may park outside the VIP entrance and enter through the VIP lobby, and they are asked to watch from section 105, behind the Hurricanes’ bench. Out-of-town media wishing to pick up their single-game credential at morning skate should reach out to David Piper at davidp@carolinahurricanes.com to have their credential left at the VIP entrance.

Approximately five minutes after the team has started to leave the ice, the Hurricanes’ locker room will be open to media for player interviews. Once player availabilities have concluded, Head Coach Rod Brind’Amour will be available in the media workroom. In the event that the Hurricanes do not hold a morning skate, Brind’Amour will be available in the media workroom approximately two hours and 15 minutes prior to puck drop unless otherwise noted.

Pregame coach audio will be uploaded to CanesPR.com and can be found here.

Practices and morning skates at PNC Arena are NOT open to the general public unless otherwise communicated.

Practices and morning skates at Invisalign Arena ARE open to the public.

No outside food or beverage will be allowed into Invisalign Arena during any practice, morning skate or training camp session.
No autographs will be given during training camp or practices while inside Invisalign Arena. Please do not bring any items into Invisalign Arena to be autographed during practices, morning skates or training camp, or you may be asked to return them to your vehicle.
Out of respect for the players’ routines, no autographs will be permitted inside or outside at morning skates or playoff practices.
The use of video, audio or digital recording devices is prohibited except for credentialed media members.

Media needing Wi-Fi at Invisalign Arena may use the “WCC_Public” network. No password is required.

LIVE SHOTS & LOCAL NEWS CAMERAS

Until warmups begin (6:29 p.m. for a 7 p.m. puck drop), local news stations are permitted to do live shots from the following locations:

  • top of 101 on the 130 side
  • top of 102 on the 101 side
  • top of 107 on the 108 side
  • top of 122 on the 123 side

Rightsholders have an exclusive window from 30 minutes before puck drop until the game ends — all local news cameras/equipment and personal belongings must be cleared out of the seating bowl (and the Priority Lounges) at least 30 minutes before the game starts. You may return to these locations after the game ends.

If you need more space for a live shot, you can use the stairwell landing at the bottom of 130 or 115, with 130 being the primary spot. 115 may only be used if there are multiple requests. The aforementioned timing window also applies to these areas.

Local news stations are not be permitted to shoot any game action, and any members of the media who are caught violating this policy will be subject to loss of credentials. Each local station is provided with two seats in the press box for each game during the regular season.

MEDIA PARKING & ARRIVAL

Media parking is available in the East 1000 lot, which can be seen in the PNC Arena parking map available here.

Media with full-season credentials may obtain a plastic parking pass which can be used to gain access to the media lot at all Hurricanes home games throughout the season. Full-season parking passes are not required for media with single-game credentials, although you may be asked by a parking attendant to present work ID or a previous single-game credential to gain access to the media parking lot.

Once media doors open, single-game credentials may be picked up from the media entrance between the box office and VIP lobby on the south side of PNC Arena, across from Carter-Finley Stadium. Media doors open two and a half hours prior to puck drop for all regular-season games and may open earlier during the playoffs. Upon entry, media may use the south elevators to access the media rooms on Arena level (ice level) or the press box on the fifth floor.

MEDIA ROOMS

For all home games, credentialed media have access to a pregame meal in the PNC Arena media lounge on Arena level (ice level). The meal costs $14, and payment is card-only. It is prohibited to allow family members, friends or guests who do not have a valid credential into the media dining room.

There is a media workroom next to the media lounge which media may use before, during and after the game. Postgame notes and audio transcriptions will be distributed to the media workroom approximately 30 minutes after the final horn. Please be respectful of others when using the media workroom.

Printed lineups and game notes are also available for media in the media dining room before each game.

PRESS BOX & INTERNET ACCESS

The press box is located on the fifth floor of PNC Arena and can be accessed via the south elevators. Seating charts are posted throughout the press box, and seats are reserved for respective accredited outlets.

Lineups, statistics and game notes will be distributed throughout the press box throughout the game. In keeping with accepted media decorum and practices, cheering is not permitted in the press box.

Media may use the “PNC Arena Free WiFi” network while at PNC Arena. No password is required.

POSTGAME ACCESS

Both teams’ locker rooms will be opened approximately five minutes after the teams leave the ice following the game. The officials’ locker room and both teams’ medical rooms, change rooms and shower areas are off limits to media.

Once player availability has concluded in the Hurricanes’ locker room, Head Coach Rod Brind’Amour will have his postgame press conference in the media lounge (same room as pregame dining room).
