ERIC TULSKY

GENERAL MANAGER

Eric Tulsky is entering his 12th season with the Hurricanes and his second as general manager. Named the 10th general manager in franchise history on June 18, 2024, Tulsky oversees all hockey operations activities for the club.

Tulsky first joined the Hurricanes organization in 2014 as a consultant and was later named a hockey analyst, using data to help inform decision-making related to player personnel, on-ice tactics, the amateur draft, and other hockey-related matters. He was promoted to manager of hockey analytics in 2017 before being named vice president of hockey management and strategy the following year. Tulsky was promoted to assistant general manager in 2020 and spent four seasons in that role, overseeing the pro scouting, hockey data, and CBA compliance departments.

A Philadelphia native, Tulsky holds a B.A. in chemistry and physics from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. He also conducted a two-year post-doctoral study at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. He worked in high-tech industry for 12 years, managing teams of researchers focused on using nanotechnology to solve problems in DNA sequencing, solar energy, displays, and energy storage; he holds 27 U.S. patents.

DARREN YORKE

ASSOCIATE GENERAL MANAGER/CHICAGO WOLVES GM

Darren Yorke is entering his 17th season with the Hurricanes, and his second as associate general manager. As associate general manager, Yorke is involved in all player personnel decisions, oversees amateur scouting and player development, and is responsible for the team’s draft. As the general manager of the Chicago Wolves, he will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day hockey operations of Carolina’s AHL affiliate. Yorke previously served as the team’s director of player personnel.

Yorke first joined the organization in 2009 as video scout, using television broadcasts of professional and amateur games to assist management in personnel decisions and filing reports on players similar to the team’s field scouts. Prior to being named director of player personnel, Yorke served as manager of scouting.

A native of Milton, Ont., Yorke graduated with honors from Brock University in 2008 with a degree in sports management. Prior to joining the Hurricanes, he interned and worked for the Buffalo Sabres for two seasons. Yorke also spent one year with Canadian sports network TSN. Yorke resides in Raleigh with his wife, Chandler, his daughter, Tatum and his son, Madden.

TYLER DELLOW

ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

Tyler Dellow is entering his second season with the Hurricanes as assistant general manager. As assistant general manager, Dellow is responsible for overseeing data analysis and compliance with the NHL’s salary cap and collective bargaining agreement.

Dellow spent the last five seasons with the New Jersey Devils’ front office, most recently serving as senior vice president of hockey strategy and analytics. Prior to joining the Devils, Dellow spent two seasons (2014-16) as an analytics consultant with the Edmonton Oilers. Between his stops in New Jersey and Edmonton, Dellow was a staff writer for The Athletic, covering the analytics side of hockey.

Dellow earned his law degree at the University of Toronto and practiced civil litigation in Toronto prior to working in hockey. He founded mc79hockey.com, a leading analytics-based hockey blog that helped bring data analysis into mainstream hockey discussion. 

JUSTIN WILLIAMS

SPECIAL ADVISOR TO THE GENERAL MANAGER

Justin Williams is entering his sixth season as the Hurricanes’ special advisor to the general manager.

Williams retired from playing professionally on Oct. 8, 2020. Selected by Philadelphia in the first round, 28th overall, of the 2000 NHL Draft, he recorded 797 points (320g, 477a) in 1,264 career NHL games with the Hurricanes, Flyers, Kings and Capitals. Williams was named to the 2007 NHL All-Star Game, and he is a three-time Stanley Cup Champion, winning titles with Carolina in 2006 and Los Angeles in 2012 and 2014. He is one of nine players in NHL history to score 100 or more goals and win the Stanley Cup with two different franchises. Williams also won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2014, awarded to the most valuable player during the playoffs.

In 449 career games with the Hurricanes from 2004-09 and 2017-20, he tallied 316 points (128g, 188a), ranking sixth in team history (since relocation) in goals and assists and eighth in points. Williams was also named the 16th captain in franchise history on Sept. 13, 2018. He played in 162 career NHL playoff games, registering 102 points (41g, 61a). Williams’ 15 points (7g, 8a) in nine career Game 7s are the most career Game 7 points by any player in NHL history, and his teams posted an 8-1 record in Game 7s.

The Cobourg, Ont., native also represented Canada at the 2002, 2004 and 2007 IIHF World Championships, winning gold medals in 2004 and 2007.

CHRIS ABBOTT

VICE PRESIDENT OF PRO PLAYER PERSONNEL

Abbott enters his second season with the Hurricanes after serving as general manager in the SHL for the past eight seasons. A native of Sarnia, Ont., he began his management career as a development coach with HV71 before being named general manager of Rögle BK during the 2017-18 season. In 2021-22, Abbott’s team finished first in the SHL’s regular-season standings and captured Rögle BK’s first-ever Champions Hockey League title, defeating Tappara (SM-liiga) in the final. After seven seasons with Rögle BK, Abbott was named HV71’s general manager prior to the 2024-25 season. Abbott, a graduate of Cornell University, played nine seasons as a forward in Sweden’s top professional league before transitioning into his hockey management career. Chris resides in Raleigh with his wife, Kendall, and their two young children.

KEVIN KAN

LEAD SOFTWARE DEVELOPER, HOCKEY DATA SYSTEMS

Kevin Kan is entering his eighth season with the Hurricanes in a software development role, where he is responsible for building software to support hockey operations. He received his BASc and MASc in industrial engineering from the University of Toronto, where he studied information systems design and human factors. Prior to joining the Hurricanes, he worked as a user experience designer for data-intensive web applications. He also created hockey data visualizations and a public hockey database, datarink.

EARL SCHWARTZ

CBA AND SALARY CAP ANALYST

Earl Schwartz is entering his first season as the CBA and salary cap analyst, previously serving three seasons as the Hurricanes’ compliance assistant.

An Ontario native, Schwartz studied Sport Management at Niagara College. Prior to joining the Hurricanes, he was an author at TheLeafsNation.com, where he wrote extensively about NHL trends and developments, particularly related to the salary cap and other mechanisms laid out in the league’s collective bargaining agreement.
