RALEIGH, N.C. – Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the team’s 2020-21 Media Access Policy. In accordance with the NHL’s media policies, all interviews will be conducted via Zoom this season. There will be no direct in-person interaction between media members and any Hurricanes players, coaches or support staff.
If you would like to receive text and email updates about the timing of post-practice and postgame player and coach Zoom calls, please email Michael Brown at michaelb@carolinahurricanes.com.
The Hurricanes will hold practices and morning skates at both PNC Arena and Wake Competition Center during the 2020-21 season. All practices and morning skates will be open to full-season credentialed media but closed to the public.
Credentials
The Carolina Hurricanes are now accepting requests for full-season credentials for the 2020-21 season. Requests for full-season credentials must be received by Saturday, Jan. 2. No full-season credential requests will be accepted after that date.
Due to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols for the 2020-21 season, there will be an extremely limited number of full-season credentials issued this season. In addition, access to Hurricanes’ games, practices and morning skates will be strictly limited to full-season credential holders. No single-game credentials will be issued. However, media not permitted to attend games, practices and morning skates will be granted access to all Zoom media availabilities.
In order to formally request full-season media/photo credentials, please fill out the online form at http://CanesPR.com. You will find the form on the right side of the site under the “Pages” header, or you can link to it directly by clicking here. If you are a new credential applicant, or would like to change the photo used on last year’s credential, please email a recent head shot or other clear photograph of your face to Michael Brown at michaelb@carolinahurricanes.com after completing the form. Photos will be printed on all full-season credentials.
Wake Competition Center
Full-season credentialed media members who wish to attend practice must enter Wake Competition Center through the main entrance, where they will sign-in and undergo a temperature check. Media seating will be available in the red bleachers and video cameras will be able to set up on the platforms on either side of the top of the bleachers. To access the bleacher area, media must enter and exit around the right side (Area A) of the Red Rink, and circle behind the team’s benches in order to not cross paths with the team’s ice entrance.
PNC Arena
Full-season credentialed media members must enter through the VIP Entrance, where they will sign-in and undergo a temperature check. Media seating will be located at the West Priority Lounge at the top of sections 101 through 107 on the first floor of PNC Arena. Media members will not be permitted elsewhere inside PNC Arena and will not have access to elevators. For games, media members will not be permitted access to PNC Arena until one hour prior to puck drop and no media meal will be provided this season.
Media present at PNC Arena or Wake Competition Center must wear face coverings at all times, participate in daily temperature checks prior to entry, remain at least six-feet apart from other media members and Hurricanes staff at all times, and sign a waiver daily attesting to be free of COVID-19 symptoms. If a media member has a COVID-19 symptom, has had exposure to someone with COVID-19 or COVID-19 symptoms, or if they have a temperature, they will not be admitted entry to PNC Arena or Wake Competition Center. Media members who meet any of these criteria will need to follow up with their own physician for care and will require a letter from their physician providing written medical clearance before they will be admitted entry to PNC Arena or Wake Competition Center.
