RALEIGH, NC – Don Waddell, President of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today issued the following statement following the passing of USA Hockey executive Jim Johannson:

“Jim Johannson has been a driving force in making both the USA Hockey men’s and women’s programs into consistent winners,” said Waddell. “Since his arrival, USA Hockey hasn’t just competed in international competitions, it has won at nearly every level.

“For as great of a hockey man as he was, Jim was an even better person. He was a superior multitasker and always represented USA Hockey with intelligence, compassion and class. He will be greatly missed by all – especially those of us lucky enough to work with him.”

The Hurricanes will observe a moment of silence for Johansson prior to tonight’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
