RALEIGH, NC – Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has hired Mike Vellucci as the head coach of their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. Vellucci, who is in his fourth season as assistant general manager for the Hurricanes, will also continue to serve in that role.
