RALEIGH, NC – Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has assigned defenseman Roland McKeown to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). McKeown was a healthy extra for Carolina’s season-opener on Thursday in Winnipeg and now will join the Checkers for their season-opening trip to play the Texas Stars on Friday and Saturday in Austin, TX.
