RALEIGH, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes today announced that American-born defensemen Justin Faulk, John-Michael Liles and James Wisniewski have created a new program to provide a full game-night experience for military members and their families. The three defensemen launched the program, called “True Defenders,” on Thursday, delivering tickets to the North Carolina National Guard in Raleigh.

Though today’s event was only open for servicemen and servicewomen from the National Guard base, raw high-definition video, including interview footage, is available for download and broadcast here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7r5615slzbcl8mw/TrueDefenders_Canes_to_TV.mov?dl=0

For 11 games this season, including the team’s home opener on Saturday, Oct. 10, the True Defenders program will host 40 military guests at PNC Arena. Along with a ticket and parking pass to the game, each guest will receive a special “True Defenders” long-sleeved t-shirt and a PNC Arena gift card for merchandise and concessions. After the games, guests will enjoy meet-and-greets with Faulk, Liles, Wisniewski and their teammates. Along with the National Guard, the program will benefit troops at military bases across North Carolina.
