‘CANES NHL DRAFT MEDIA GATHERING, JUNE 22-23

RALEIGH, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes media relations department will hold its annual NHL Entry Draft media gathering in the PNC Arena’s fourth floor conference room on Friday, June 22, and Saturday, June 23. Hurricanes President/General Manager Jim Rutherford and Director of Amateur Scouting Tony MacDonald will make calls to the media gathering to comment on the team’s draft selections and/or any transactions made by the team. Players present at the draft will also be made available for comment via telephone.

Media may arrive at PNC Arena any time after 6 p.m. on Friday, June 22, as the first round of the draft will begin at 7 p.m. (NBC Sports Network). Rounds 2-7 will take place on Saturday, June 23, beginning at 10 a.m. (NHL Network/NHL.com). Food and drink will be provided for those attending.

The Hurricanes currently hold 10 draft picks, including the eighth overall pick in the first round, each of their own picks in Rounds 2-7, and three picks acquired via trade – San Jose’s second-round pick, Boston’s and New Jersey’s fourth-round selections.
